My Top 3 spots at Erindale Park – Mississauga Baby Photographer
I have had many sessions at Erindale Park for family photos. I have found 3 staple spots in various seasons that work perfectly for family photos with young kids whatever time of day the sessions are. As a Mississauga Baby Photographer and Family Photographer, when I scout for locations, I look for spots where the kids are able to play safely. Safety is paramount for when I searched for these spots. More than good light or how it will render in the final photos, I look for spots where families can actually have some movements and have fun.
Below you will find my 3 staple spots at Erindale Park (plus a bonus!!!):
Erindale is a big park in Mississauga. I got lost trying to hike it solo one time where I met an MP that helped me find which parking lot I left my car (that one is another story). The trails at the park provide a view of the Credit River. They actually have spots there for fishing. These photos below are from the early fall session and from my Collective Membership family.
One day I was scouting the area and I saw the spot by the river (where the rockbed area is), I already pictured families playing there. Dad will be skipping stones to show their kid how it is done. Kids will probably want to dip their feet in the water while their mamas hold their hands. I have had this picture already in my head. It will be full of movements and actual play. These photos are from summer time at 10am in the morning.
As the park is the biggest one in Mississauga, there is no shortage of trails. They are paved and cyclists and joggers alike frequent the area. But the trails are also one of my favourite spots. The trees provide a nice shade whatever time of day your session is. Kids are able to walk hand in hand with their parents and make for some natural shots of the families. The leaves also provide that nice backdrop for those portraits. Sometimes, there are streams of sunshine. I love how the light fuses. Photos below (first 3) are from a morning session during early Fall. And the bottom 3 are from a Summer session!
I accidentally found this spot when I was doing a fall maternity photography session, and the water was higher than normal by the river. We had to move and find somewhere dry. And up we went to the hill which I later found out was a popular toboggan hill at Erindale Park. Light situation : Beautiful on the hill any time of day. As it is a big spot, you can move subjects around for the light that works for your photographic style.
How can I forget the stairs? When I ask kids to go up and down the stairs, it is always a hit. They love holding their parents’ hands while they go up and down. I would also sometimes ask them to sit. The stairs are also lined by trees so no matter what time of day it is, there will be parts where the lighting will work your way!
