In this post, I talked about what an in studio newborn session with me looks like. It was at a location in Burlington called The Nook Studio. This time, I would share another natural light studio that is located in Dundas called Studio Verde. I love both of these studios as they match my light and airy style. The major difference is location. I live in the middle of two cities and serve them both – Burlington and Hamilton. So it depends on where you are and which studio is closer to you. Read below and check out some sample photos from this natural light studio.
3 things I like about Studio Verde :
Natural Light – Baby Photographer Hamilton
No matter what time of day, whether it is gloomy or cloudy outside, the light inside this studio is just perfect. I cannot tell you how important this is for a natural light photographer like me. But more than benefiting me, it also is helpful for clients because it means that we can photograph and plan around your kids’ nap time. We are not stuck with an only afternoon or only morning schedule because the light can work any time of day. And with any type of day – sunny, cloudy, overcast, etc. Top photos were taken during the morning time, while the bottom photos were taken in the afternoon light.
Minimalist – Baby Photographer Hamilton
One of my requirements when looking for a studio to rent, aside from white or neutral walls, is a simple set. I prefer studios that are not busy in terms of design. I aim for clean and minimal look. I am looking for a minimal set up that is safe for the kids. I photograph families with young kids so having furniture around that is family friendly is imperative for myself and my clients. I also look for a set with minimalist features to direct the focus towards my clients’ connections rather than the studio’s design or furnitures. The ultimate goal of this is so that the portraits’ centre of attention are my subjects.
The Bed – Baby Photographer Hamilton
I know that not a lot of studios have a bed. Most have couches and that is great but a bed is, my oh my, a chef’s kiss for a newborn photographer. Because I offer lifestyle newborn photography, most of the time, the prompts are reflective of real life. At least I try my best to make this happen. This means that I ask the parents to lie in bed with their newborn. For baby’s solo shots, I also use the bed for those simple portraits of their teeny tiny details. The bed can be used in so many ways that feels natural like when you are at home. The only difference is that you do not have to make this bed, because someone else did it for you! 😉
Bonus : access to the washroom – Baby Photographer Hamilton
This little studio has washroom access! I don’t think I have to explain the importance of this. But who doesn’t need an accessible washroom when taking photos. Are you thinking of doing studio portraits or have more questions? Let’s chat!
